Faith Development

After School Religious Instruction Program - "Chi Rho"

Our aim is to educate the children who do not attend Catholic Schools with a good basic knowledge of their faith. Classes are conducted for all children of primary school age, and emphasis is placed on good sacramental preparation and support from the family. The classes are held every Tuesday at the Parish Centre from 4.00 to 5.00pm, during term time. Enrolment is at the beginning of the school year and is advertised in the bulletin.

Baptism Preparation

You are invited to come to one of our weekend Masses and speak with one of our priests. They will give you a baptism request form with information attached. The request form together with a $50 booking fee needs to be handed in at the parish office and a Secretary will advise you of the date of the Baptism Preparation Meeting. These are held on the first Wednesday monthly at 7.30pm in the meeting room and both parents and Godparents are encouraged to attend. One month’s notice is required. Parents of school aged children, requiring Baptism need to speak with one of our Priests.

Bible Study Ministry

Provides opportunites and encouragement for people to develop their faith through participation in learning the scriptures through Bible Studies.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal

Armadale CCR group meet every 1st, 2nd and 3rd Friday of the month at 7pm in Xavier House. All are welcome to join us for praise and worship.

Children's Liturgy

Children of primary school age, who have not received the Sacraments are welcome to attend. Children’s liturgy is held each Sunday at the 9.30am Mass during the school term. The children sing, pray and listen to God’s Word, followed by a simple but fun activity, which reinforces the Gospel message for that weekend. The children then return to their parents in the Church in time for the offertory. Contact the Parish Office on (08) 9399 2143 on Tuesdays to speak to our Sunday Catechist Coordinator.

Couples for Christ

Families in the Holy Spirit renewing the face of the earth”
The Couple for Christ is a Catholic movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life. CFC couples have committed themselves to the Lord and to one another so that they may grow in maturity as men and women of God and fulfil their primary vocation of raising families grounded in Christian values, in the service and love of God. CFC has its family ministries; CFC Kids for Christ, CFC Youth for Christ, CFC Singles for Christ, CFC Handmaids of the Lord and CFC Servants of the Lord. In 2000, CFC was recognized by the Holy See (Vatican) as a private international association of the lay faithful of pontifical right.

Legion of Mary

A Legion of Mary Presidium was established in the parish in October 2018. Weekly meetings, Rosary, devotions to Our Lady, visitations to hospitals, nursing homes and the housebound are just some of the words involved. Meetings are held from 5.45pm to 7pm each Tuesday in the meeting room.

Prayer Chain

If you find yourself or a loved one in need of urgent prayer, please contact the parish office with the name and need and a staff member will pass on your request to the prayer chain. This group will pray for the person as the request is passed on to each member of the group.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

A process for preparing and welcoming new members into the Catholic Church. The Church is open to all who are willing to accept the Catholic teaching. To become a Catholic a person must be conscientiously convinced of the truth of the Catholic Church’s teaching. A person must come to true Faith in Christ and an acceptance of Him and a determination to try to live in accordance with that faith in Christ. We are happy to explain the Faith to anyone who asks. At the moment the group meet on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm in the meeting room during school term time. Committed practising Catholics would be welcome as sponsors.

Schoenstatt Shrine and Movement

The Schoenstatt Shrine dedicated to Mary as the Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt is a place of grace and a place of pilgrimage where everyone is welcome. Together with the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, Schoenstatt Movement members offer regular reflection and formation days for youth and young adults, families, women and mothers. Family groups and women/mothers groups provide opportunities for ongoing faith development and fellowship.
Through Schoenstatt’s Pilgrim Mother Apostolate, a picture of grace regularly visits families within the parish, bringing the graces of the Shrine into their homes and encouraging family prayer.

St Kevin's Church - Serpentine

St Kevin’s Catholic Church was blessed and opened by Archbishop Redmond Prendiville on 3rd March 1940. It was initially part of the Parish of Pinjarra, but since the early 1960’s has been part of the Parish of Armadale.

St Kevin’s Church was built with money raised by the local Catholic community and, with the invaluable help of our Parish priests, has always maintained a strong focus on providing spiritual support for parishioners who live in the Mundijong/Jarrahdale/Serpentine region of the Armadale Parish

Mass is currently held each Sunday at 9.30am and parishioners are always needed to fill positions such as Readers; Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist; Altar Servers; Music; and Church Preparation and Cleaning. In order to provide a closer venue for those not able to travel, St Kevin’s endeavours to ‘mirror’ programs offered in the Parish, e.g. Chi Rho; Lenten Programs; Stations of the Cross etc., when appropriate.
